The World Museum is the largest ethnographic museum in Austria, established as early as 1876 in the New Castle wing of the Hofburg Palace. The museum’s collections include approximately 400,000 archaeological, artistic, and cultural objects from Asia, Africa, Australia, and the Americas.
Among the exhibits in the museum are Aztec handicrafts and objects, Polynesian artworks, copper pieces from the ancient Kingdom of Benin (modern-day Nigeria), and more.
The most famous exhibit in the museum is a feather headdress from Mexico, considered to be the headdress that belonged to the Aztec ruler Moctezuma.
