Spittal an der Drau is an ancient town founded back in the Middle Ages, in the 12th century. The town lies at the foot of the Nock Mountains, and the peak near the town is called Goldeck. This area is known as the Drava Valley (Drautal), which is considered one of the largest in the state of Carinthia and East Tyrol.
The Drava Valley begins near the city of Lienz in East Tyrol and ends in the southern part of the state of Styria. The beautiful Drava River, from which the valley gets its name, flows along its length.
The Drautalperle Water Park
The large park is located in the heart of the town and has a very large water complex. About 5,600 square meters of pools await you in this park. The various pools are designed for both fun and sport. There is a large pool heated to 33 degrees with a 60-meter-long slide, a rope wall, a waterfall, and more. Additionally, there is a 25-meter-long pool for those who want to get some exercise during their trip. For the little ones, there is a shallow, heated pool.
In addition to the large water world, there is also a sauna and relaxation complex. This area has dry and wet saunas, an infrared cabin, and more. On Tuesdays from 5:00 PM, part of the sauna is designated for women only. There are also quiet rooms for resting with a wonderful view of the entire area, as well as a bar for drinks and snacks.
