The Zillertal Valley is considered one of the most popular travel regions in the Tyrol area. The valley covers a large area and includes many picturesque villages nestled at the foot of the mountains. The tourism and accommodation areas of the valley are divided into 4 main regions:
- Fügen-Kaltenbach – This area is in the northern part of the valley, between the village of Fügen and the village of Kaltenbach. The village of Ried im Zillertal, which is also popular for accommodation, is located between these two.
- Zell-Gerlos – This area starts from the heart of the valley in the village of Zell am Ziller and continues eastward to the border area with the state of Salzburg, where the village of Gerlos is located. If you stay in this area, you will be closer to the popular Krimml Waterfalls.
- Mayrhofen-Hippach – This area is in the southern part of the valley, between the famous town of Mayrhofen and the villages of Ramsau im Zillertal-Hippach.
- Tux – Finkenberg – This accommodation area is at the southern end of the valley, in the section facing west toward the Hintertux Glaciers. It is suitable for those who want to combine a trip to the Zillertal and the Tux Valley without changing accommodation during their trip.
