Sparbach Nature Park (Naturpark Sparbach) is located south of Vienna, just a half-hour drive from the city center. It is a large and particularly impressive natural area in the southernmost part of the Vienna Woods (Wienerwald). The nature park was founded 50 years ago and is now considered the oldest of its kind in Austria.
Many wild boars, foxes, and deer roam freely throughout the park. You can watch them from panoramic lookout points that overlook the entire park. In addition, there are well-kept gardens in the Biedermeier style, ancient castle ruins, giant trees, and vast green lawns. The reserve is a lovely place for a family visit, and the walk is suitable for families with young children.
What else is there in the Sparbach Nature Reserve:
- A visitor center with a small restaurant and shop
- An interactive exhibition for children about the park
- A playground
- A petting zoo with rabbits, donkeys, goats, and sheep
- Lookout points for deer and wild sheep
- 3 areas with ancient castle ruins: the Johannstein Ruins, the Köhlerhaus Ruins, and the Diana Temple.
- A small pond with a water station and places to rest.

Operating Hours:
Open only during the season from March 20th to November 2nd. During these months, the reserve is open every day from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

How to get to the nature reserve by public transport from Vienna?
From Vienna, take a train to the Mödling station. From there, take bus number 264, which goes directly to the nature reserve.
