Chabad House Vienna (Chabad Haus Wien) is located in the heart of Vienna’s 2nd District (Leopoldstadt), the vibrant neighborhood where most of the city’s Jewish community lives. Its location is very central and easily accessible on foot from the city center (Innere Stadt). Shabbat-observant travelers looking to stay within a few minutes’ walk of Chabad can browse our guide to the best hotels and apartments in Vienna’s Jewish District (some of which are Jewish-owned and Shabbat-friendly), or check out the Vayalen Kosher Boutique Hotel, located just a 5-minute walk from the Chabad House.
The Chabad House itself is housed in a beautiful historic building, and its grand dining hall rivals a classic Viennese banquet hall. On the basement level beneath the synagogue, there is a youth lounge featuring historic wall inscriptions that testify to Jewish life and community activity dating back to before World War II (if you ask the rabbis, they will gladly show them to you).
Please note that the Chabad House is secured, and security personnel are stationed at the entrance during prayers and events. To be on the safe side, bring a photo ID (such as your passport) and coordinate your visit in advance.
Services Offered at Chabad House Vienna:

1. Shabbat Meals
Chabad’s communal Friday night dinners bring together many travelers as well as local Viennese residents who come to take part in this wonderful weekly celebration. The meals are lavish and feature a wide variety of traditional dishes. During peak travel seasons, the dining hall is packed with visitors and can host up to 200 guests!
Beyond the delicious food, the dinner is an unforgettable experience in itself—the young rabbis at Chabad know exactly how to turn every meal into a warm, uplifting celebration. Get ready to make plenty of “L’chaim” toasts and meet fellow Jews from all around the world.
A Shabbat lunch meal is also held on Saturday afternoon, though usually on a more intimate scale.
Important: Participation in Shabbat meals requires advance registration and payment.
