The state of Carinthia is located in the southern part of Austria and is the oldest of the states of the Republic of Austria. Carinthia was the seat of ancient peoples and archaeological finds indicate settlement as early as the Paleolithic period (30,000 years ago). In addition, there are writings that mention the names of settlements in Carinthia from 3000 BC. The state has a population of about 600,000. The capital of the state is the city of Klagenfurt . Near the capital of Carinthia is one of the most popular lakes in Austria – Lake Wörthersee . Around the lake there are many hotels and many great water attractions for hot summer days.
