Auto-Rental was founded in 2003 and today has a fleet of over 250 cars. The company’s fleet is modern; their vehicles are used for a maximum of 3 years and have low mileage.

The company’s offices are located in Bratislava, but they also operate at the airports of Vienna, Budapest, and other cities in the region. If you are landing in Vienna or Bratislava and intend to rent a car for your trip, you should review the details provided later in this article.

Please note! To receive the benefits, you must enter the code AU10 in the price inquiry form (in the “Promo Code” line) on the Auto-Rental website.

What’s included in the Auto-Rental benefits?

  1. 10% discount on the total rental cost throughout the year – even for bookings in the summer months.
  2. Generous mileage allowance included in the price – 300 kilometers per day and 5,000 kilometers per month (instead of 200 km per day and 4,000 km per month without the coupon code). The mileage is calculated as an average over all days, so for a 10-day rental, you will get 3,000 kilometers included in the price instead of 2,000. If you are taking a trip to Salzburg, Tyrol, or Carinthia, this will definitely be enough for your trip.
  3. Crossing borders between EU countries at no extra cost.
  4. Assistance with purchasing the Austrian motorway vignette in advance so you don’t have to deal with it at the beginning of your trip (the cost of the sticker for Austrian roads is not included in the rental price and costs about €12,80 for 10 days).
  5. No cancellation fees (you just need to notify them as soon as possible).
  6. The comprehensive insurance premium decreases as the rental period gets longer. You can get insurance with no deductible for accidents and damages for €27 per day (minimum rental period to get this price is 4 days). Please note that some things are not included in the insurance – like the car’s interior, tires, etc. More information on the insurance offered.
  7. Service throughout the rental period via WhatsApp. You can be in constant contact with the company representative directly on WhatsApp. The company representatives speak English.
  8. New cars with automatic transmission. The company has a fleet of family cars (7-8-9 seats) with automatic transmission for simple and safe driving in Austria.
  9. Vehicle inspection immediately upon its return. A company representative will check the vehicle the moment you return it so you know on the spot that everything is fine and there are no additional charges. In other companies, the inspection is sometimes done a few hours after the car is returned, when you are no longer there.
  10. If you received a lower price quote from another company in Slovakia, Auto-Rental will match its price to the rental price offered to you by the competing company.

Sounds good?

You should fill out the inquiry form on the Auto-Rental website and book the car as soon as possible before the busy season.

Please note: The form does not require any payment details and does not constitute a commitment to rent. Remember to put the code AU10 in the “Promo Code” line to receive the benefits. The line is below your personal information at the end of the form:

To understand exactly what renting a car from Auto-Rental involves, we spoke with Daniel, a friendly Slovakian who serves as one of the company’s managers. Daniel explained everything to us about the company and the current rental process:

1. What exactly is the process of renting a car in Vienna (at the airport, for example)?

The car rental is done in 5 steps:

  • Filling out the inquiry form on the company’s website regarding the desired booking details (10% discount if you enter the code AU10 in the Promo Code line).
  • Receiving detailed information from the company regarding the requested vehicle, the amount to be paid, details about possible insurance and its cost (standard insurance with a deductible, full insurance without a deductible), etc. Please note: The prices on the website are before VAT.
  • Completing the booking and confirming the details: the final price, vehicle type, extras, etc.
  • Picking up the vehicle: Payment for the booking upon picking up the vehicle and leaving a deposit + a comprehensive inspection of the vehicle for scratches, faults, etc.
  • Returning the vehicle: Re-inspection of the vehicle for new scratches, returning the keys, etc.

2. What documents do I need to send to complete the booking?

  1. Valid passport
  2. Valid driver’s license (valid for at least two years)
  3. Our recommendation: Also prepare an international driving permit.

3. How do I make the payment?

Payment for the car rental is made upon pickup at the scheduled time. You can also pay the deposit in advance or bring it in cash on the day of pickup.

4. What is the amount of the deposit?

The deposit amount varies depending on the size of the car, its prestige, and the number of rental days. Usually, the range is between €300 and €500 for a rental for driving in Austria (according to Daniel, 90% of the time the deposit is only €300). You can pay the deposit in any currency that is convenient for you – you can also pay it in shekels, dollars, etc. At the end of the rental period, and provided that no uninsured damage has occurred, you will receive the full deposit back.

5. Does the office work 24/7, even on Sundays?

Like most companies, the Auto-Rental office in Bratislava works during regular hours, and if necessary, they handle pickups and returns outside of regular hours. For our website users, coordinating a pickup or return outside of operating hours is free of charge.

  • During the week (Monday to Friday): Every day from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
  • On weekends (Saturday, Sunday) and holidays: Every day from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

6. Where can I pick up and return the car?

You can pick up and return the car in the city of Bratislava (free during office hours), Bratislava Airport (free), Vienna Airport (for a fee), Budapest Airport (for a fee), Prague Airport (for a fee). Please note: There is an additional cost for picking up and returning a car at Vienna Airport. Information on additional costs. If you want to pick up and return the car at another location, you can simply write to the company and coordinate with them individually.

7. What are the recommended insurances?

There are several types of insurance you can get for the rental period. The two most popular are standard insurance and comprehensive insurance. The cost of insurance decreases as the rental period gets longer.

The standard insurance that comes as a standard part of the rental includes:

  • An accident not caused by the driver of the vehicle – full coverage.
  • An accident caused by the driver – a deductible of €300 or 10%.
  • Damage to the vehicle not from an accident – a deductible of €300 or 10%.
  • Theft of the vehicle – a deductible of €300 or 10%.

The comprehensive insurance includes:

  • An accident not caused by the driver of the vehicle – full coverage.
  • An accident caused by the driver – full coverage for one accident.
  • Damage to the vehicle not from an accident – full coverage for one damage incident. Does not include windows, tires, and the car’s interior.
  • Theft of the vehicle – full coverage.

You can read more information about the insurance on the website.

8. What can I do if the rented car does not meet my expectations?

You can exchange the car without any problem if another car is available. In the case of an exchange for a different type of car, you will receive a new rental price quote, and immediately afterward, you will receive the car. If the car you wanted is not available, you will receive a car in the same category or an upgraded car.

9. What should I do if I find previous damage to the car that the rental agreement does not mention?

Send a photo and information about the discovered damage/scratches as soon as possible to the company via email.

10. Is there ongoing service for problems during the rental?

There is a call center that operates 24/7 and service via WhatsApp. As soon as you make the booking, you receive the phone number of the call center and the representative who will assist you throughout the rental period. If the car has a serious problem that prevents you from continuing your journey, a company representative will come to you as quickly as possible with a replacement car.

11. I had an accident with the rental car, what should I do?

The first step, assuming there are no injuries, is to contact the rental company’s customer service and report the accident. They will guide you through the necessary procedures. Next, you should call the police, especially if another vehicle is involved, and complete the official accident protocol with the other driver.

If the rental car is severely damaged or totaled, the company will provide a replacement vehicle, and the damaged car will be towed. Keep in mind that towing is not free. If you were not at fault, you may need to pay for towing upfront, but the amount will be reimbursed by the insurance of the driver responsible for the accident.

If you have full insurance coverage, you won’t have to pay a deductible, even if you caused the accident. In that case, your responsibility is limited to notifying the rental company, calling the police, and filling out the required details for the official protocol. Following these steps ensures the process is smooth and your coverage is properly applied.

12. How should I return the car?

You must return the car with a full tank of fuel. If you do not refuel it, the company will refuel the car and deduct the cost from the deposit. If the car is unusually dirty, there may be a charge for cleaning it.

13. The customer returned the car, and the rental company claims that new scratches appeared, while the customer insists that they already existed. What is the process?

At the beginning of each rental, staff conduct a comprehensive inspection of the vehicle together with the renter. The rental agreement clearly notes where scratches appear, and both sides coordinate everything in advance. In the described case, the company has the option to check several previous contracts to find out whether the scratches existed before or not.

14. Are there spacious cars for large families? Are there automatic transmissions?

Of course, you can rent spacious cars with up to 9 seats. There is also an option for cars with an automatic gearbox.

If you are still looking for a good car and a reasonable rental price for your trip, you should request a price quote from Auto-Rental.

Write to the company now by filling out the booking form and get an attractive price quote and a 10% discount from us on car rental in Vienna (at Vienna Airport). You must enter the code AU10 where it says “Promo Code” in the inquiry form to receive the discount.
