If you are traveling to Salzburg from Vienna or making your way back towards Vienna’s airport, you can stop for a few hours and enjoy the small village and its zoo. The zoo is located not far from the city of Linz, about halfway on the drive from Vienna to the Lake District and the Salzburg region.
The Story of Stadt Haag Zoo
The zoo was established on the grounds of Salaberg Castle and, until 1970, the castle and its gardens were privately owned. In that year, the village municipality rented the castle grounds and its gardens and began to create walking paths and water ponds. The zoo then opened to visitors in 1973. Initially, it had a small number of animals, but over the years, animals from all over the world were added.
The zoo has a large and well-equipped playground with lots of fun facilities for children. There is a snack bar on the zoo grounds for the convenience of visitors.
You can see the animals at the Stadt Haag Zoo in the following video
