Leutaschklamm is located near the small village of Leutasch in the Seefeld district, a recommended place for accommodation. The entrance to the trail is in the village of Schanz, near the border with Germany. There’s an organized parking lot here for hikers.
The hiking trails in the gorge combine metal bridges and paths along the stone walls. The gorge reaches a depth of 75 meters! As part of the trail, there’s a panoramic suspension bridge at a great height that allows you to gaze at the impressive views of the area and the deep gorge! The bridge is made of metal and is relatively new.
There are three possible hiking trails in the canyon:
- The Magical Canyon Trail: A 3-kilometer trail that includes iron bridges 800 meters long at a high elevation. The trail starts from the parking lot in Schanz village and leads into the canyon and to the panoramic observation bridge. Afterwards, you can return through the forest.
- The Goblin Trail: A 1.9-kilometer trail that starts from the canyon’s kiosk in Mittenwald and passes by the Gletscherschliff restaurant. From there, you enter the canyon and walk along the trail until you reach the panoramic bridge.
- The Waterfall Trail: The oldest trail in the Leutasch Canyon area. It also starts from the kiosk in Mittenwald. Along the trail, there are wooden bridges slightly above the water, so you can feel its power up close. After 200 meters, the trail ends at the impressive waterfall.
