Imagine what life was like on Earth 5,300 years ago! What did prehistoric people look like, what did they wear, and how did they live? These are the questions that arose when, in 1991, the frozen body of an ancient man was accidentally found right in the heart of the mountains of the Ötztal Valley. Lab testing revealed that the man lived 5,300 years ago and died from hypothermia during a hunting trip in the mountains. This ancient man was nicknamed Ötzi.
Explanation of the Ancient Ötzi Corpse
Around this mysterious body of the ancient man, a huge open-air museum was built that will take you back in time to the Neolithic period. This museum is called the Ötzi Village.
Ötzi Village is a unique and interactive experience. Ancient graves, residential huts, and ritual areas have been reconstructed on the site. In addition, the museum features various animals that lived during the ancient period, such as wild horses, goats, pigs, and more.
At the museum, you can learn directly about the life of prehistoric man, as much as is known. You can take part in ancient ceremonies and watch interesting shows (mainly for children).
