Originally, the 4th and 5th districts were connected, but by a decision of the municipality, they were split into two separate districts. Due to its proximity to the old city center, it is considered a popular area among tourists who visit the city. It is a rather small district with about 30,000 inhabitants. The most popular place in this district is Karlsplatz square, which borders the Naschmarkt in the 6th district.
