The Sisi Museum is located within the Hofburg Palace complex in Vienna’s first district. This museum is considered one of the most popular in Vienna, offering a rare glimpse into the life of Empress Elisabeth, known as Sisi, from her coronation until her tragic death.
Who was Sisi and why is she so popular in Vienna?
Various buildings across Vienna are dedicated to Sisi, and the stories surrounding her are numerous. There is no doubt that Sisi is a significant figure in the history of the Habsburg Empire, and her legacy remains to this day. Sisi was the wife of the famous Emperor Franz Joseph and was an extraordinary figure among the nobility—both in her worldview and her behavior.

What will you see at the Sisi Museum?
The museum opened to visitors in 2004, and its collection includes approximately 300 items that belonged to the Empress. Among the items are a variety of royal clothing, medications, her travel bag, her milk glass, and even her original death certificate. There are even somewhat bizarre exhibits, such as Sisi’s baby teeth, but these are only displayed on special occasions.

- In the summer: Every day (including holidays) from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
- Last entry: At 4:30 PM.
- Museum stays open until: You can remain in the museum until 5:00 PM.

Prices and Tickets:
Due to high demand, the museum recommends booking tickets in advance and arriving at the scheduled time. The basic ticket includes an audio guide for the tour inside the museum, as well as the option for printed explanations in English. The duration of the self-guided tour in the museum is approximately 75 minutes. You can also download the explanations to your phone in advance to avoid waiting in line. Regarding the audio guide download, there are 13 languages available, though Hebrew is not included.
Through the museum’s official website, you can purchase a ticket at a cost of 17.5€ for an adult and 11€ for a child from age 6. The ticket also includes entry to the Imperial Apartments.

Alternatively, you can participate in a guided tour of the Imperial Apartments and the Sisi Museum. The guided tour in English departs at 2:00 PM and lasts about two hours.
