Aquapulco and Tropicana | Pirate World in Bad Schallerbach

On the way to Salzburg and north of Austria's lake region, just a half-hour drive from the city of Linz, lies a small village called Bad Schallerbach. In this village, there is an exceptionally large and well-invested water and relaxation park that attracts many visitors from all over the region. The park is open year-round and offers a multitude of activities for families, couples, and friends. It's worth noting that the place can get very crowded on weekends!

The Bad Schallerbach water and spa park belongs to the Eurothermen Resort chain, which operates several water parks across Austria (like the Salzkammergut Spa in Bad Ischl). This is a particularly well-designed water park with heated pools and a spa. The park has three adjacent activity complexes: the “Aquapulco” pirate world, the Tropicana, and the “Auszeit” sauna complex.

Next to the park, there is a beautiful and luxurious hotel for those who want to vacation in this area. The hotel is suitable for couples and families. Read more information about the hotel.

In this article, we will detail all the activities offered at the Bad Schallerbach water park and spa.

Aquapulco Pirate World

This complex is designed especially for children. The place is covered and suitable for year-round fun, without worrying about the weather. Join Captain Splash for a truly piratical experience!

In the Pirate World, there are 5 thrilling slides:

  1. The Octopus Slide – Slide through the arms of a giant octopus.
  2. Starlight Express – Combines an impressive light and shape show. It’s a real disco slide. At the end of the slide, you can see your speed on the display. The slide is 109 meters long.
  3. The “Snaky” Winding Slide
  4. The Fast Kamikaze Slide
  5. The Wild Canyon – A slide that will sweep you quickly through the walls of a winding canyon.

Some of the slides have an option for an automatic souvenir photo.

Other Attractions in the Pirate World

  1. “Captain Splash” Park – An outdoor park for pleasant sunny days. Includes a variety of water attractions, the pirate shower (3000 liters of water every few minutes from a height of 13 meters), and more.
  2. Toddler’s Bay – A heated pool (36 degrees) for toddlers. Includes a quiet area for parents and their children.
  3. Throughout the day, there are light and music shows, and every hour the adventure pool becomes particularly stormy with waves just like in the ocean.
  4. 5D Cinema – Experience the pirate world with all your senses right in the water, without changing out of your swimsuit.
  5. “Chango” Adventure Trail – A 100-meter course with various obstacles, rope bridges, and more.

The complex has a restaurant, a café, and a bar so you can spend the whole day comfortably and with full energy.

Tropicana – Thermal Pools Spa

Right next to the Pirate World, there is another, more relaxed complex that includes a variety of heated pools and a wonderful Caribbean design. You can enjoy a real Caribbean atmosphere in the heart of Upper Austria with soft sandy beaches, palm trees, lagoons, and even a well-kept coral grotto. The complex is covered and also suitable for rainy and cold days. On warm sunny days, the glass roof opens so you can enjoy the fresh air while relaxing on the beach.

Attractions in the Tropicana complex:

  1. Seven Heated Pools – The pools are heated to a temperature of 34-38 degrees. Some of the pools include various salts and iodine and are considered relaxation and healing pools. There is also a jacuzzi for relaxation.
  2. The Coral Grotto – An artificial cave with a huge saltwater aquarium (20,000 liters) in its center, containing various corals and fish.
  3. A Drink Bar for those relaxing in the heated pools.

This is what the Tropicana complex at the Bad Schallerbach Water Park and Spa looks like:

Auszeit – The Sauna Complex

The sauna area of the water and spa park in Bad Schallerbach is located between Tropicana and the Pirate World. It covers an area of 4,000 square meters and includes no less than 40 saunas and various relaxation attractions! The saunas are located both in the indoor complex and outdoors.

Some of the saunas awaiting you:

  1. Crystal Sauna (80 degrees)
  2. Herbal Sauna (55 degrees)
  3. Infrared
  4. Oven Sauna (70 degrees)
  5. Steam Pool
  6. Alpine Hut (90 degrees)
  7. Young Wine Barrel Sauna (85 degrees) – the largest barrel in the world!
