Vienna offers over 3,000 accommodation options, including hotels, apartments, and youth hostels. With so many choices, finding the right place to stay can be challenging. To make your search for accommodation in Vienna easier, focusing on a central location with comfortable rooms, excellent service (and a fair price), we’ve compiled a list of recommended accommodations below, based on the experiences of travelers who have already explored the city and stayed in these places, plus insights from locals. Before we delve into the recommended hotels, take a moment to read our brief explanation of the city’s important areas. This will greatly assist you in quickly choosing a hotel in Vienna without getting lost.

Which Area Should You Choose for Your Hotel in Vienna?

There are several popular areas for accommodation in Vienna:

  1. Vienna City Center is located in the First District, home to the Old Town. Most of the palaces, beautiful buildings, and popular attractions are found in this area. You’ll also find a variety of restaurants, bars, and pubs here. Since staying in the Old Town is highly sought after, hotel prices can be quite high.
  2. The Ringstrasse surrounds the Old Town, making it extremely central. From here, you can easily reach all the important attractions. Many hotels are scattered around the Ringstrasse, some of them very luxurious.
  3. The area around Mariahilfer Strasse, Vienna’s main shopping street, has become very popular due to its younger vibe and a fantastic variety of restaurants and bars. Hotels in this area are generally more affordable than those in the heart of the Old Town. Most hotels are located near a subway station, allowing for easy and quick access to the city center.
  4. Choosing a hotel in Vienna’s 2nd district is ideal because it places you close to several important Jewish institutions, including synagogues and cultural centers, while also offering easy access to the city center, scenic Danube canals, parks, and vibrant local cafés and restaurants, making it both convenient and culturally rich.

In the list of recommended hotels below, you’ll find options in each of these areas and more. Additionally, there are links to separate articles with further details on excellent hotels in popular accommodation areas.
