The Highline179 Suspension Bridge
If you don’t want to fly all the way to China or Russia to walk on long suspension bridges at great heights, you can do it in Austria! Since 2014, there has been a wonderful attraction for those who are not afraid of heights and love a bit of an extreme experience.
The Highline179 attraction will allow you to walk between heaven and earth for 402 meters at a height of 100 meters. The reason the bridge is called Highline179 is that it passes over the B179 road. The bridge connects the Ehrenberg Castle ruins site and the Fort Claudia defense fortress.
Here is the bridge and the views from it:

1. The Ehrenberg Castle World (Burgenwelt Ehrenberg)
At the end of the 13th century, Ehrenberg Castle was built. The Gothic castle served the kings and princes who ruled the area. Today, you can only see the ruins of the magnificent castle and, surrounding it, the three fortresses that were used for its defense: Schlosskopf, Ehrenberger Klause, and Fort Claudia. These four structures together are the “Ehrenberg Castle World.”
A visit to the Castle World is a wonderful opportunity to step back in time to the Middle Ages and learn about the lives of knights back then. In total, the complex has about 14 exhibition rooms, which also include fun games for children like a treasure hunt and the magic forest.

2. Alpentherme Ehrenberg Spa
The Alpentherme Ehrenberg spa complex allows you to escape the mountain cold and enjoy heated pools and a variety of activities for the whole family – every day of the year. The spa is located at an altitude of 853 meters and features indoor pools, outdoor pools, saunas, massages, and activities for children. The water in the heated pools reaches a temperature of 34 degrees Celsius – even in the outdoor pools! You can pamper yourself in the warm, mineral-rich water and enjoy the wonderful view of the area.
Inside the building, there are several pools for swimming and relaxation. The relaxation pool has pleasant water jets and bubble streams that will soothe your muscles after a day of hiking and walking. In addition, you can enjoy massage chairs (for a fee of €2 for 10 minutes) or an infrared room (for a fee of €3 for 20 minutes).
The outdoor area has plenty of sunbeds for sitting and sunbathing, a large water slide, a water play area for children, a beach volleyball court, and of course, heated pools with salts and minerals. You can sit comfortably outside, enjoy the sun, and look out at the summit of Hahnenkamm mountain and the ruins of Ehrenberg Castle.
The sauna area has several saunas: an Alpine sauna at 90 degrees, a steam sauna, and a salt sauna. There is also a small pool for cooling down after the sauna and quiet rooms for rest.
An excellent addition to a day of rest and relaxation is, of course, a pampering massage. You can choose from 6 types of Tyrolean-style massages. Please note: Massages are charged separately from the entrance fee.
If you plan to spend several hours at the spa, you can also enjoy the on-site restaurant and bar.
