Located on the forested slopes of the Vienna Woods (Wienerwald) in the 14th District (Penzing), the Hohe Wand Wiese Sommerrodelbahn delivers exhilarating mountain fun without requiring a trip deep into the Austrian Alps.
The toboggan run spans a length of 850 meters with 14 exciting banked turns, dips, and curves. With an elevation drop of nearly 100 meters between the mountain start and the valley finish, riders can reach thrilling speeds of up to 40 km/h! Additional Essential Information for Your Visit
The Sommerrodelbahn operates seasonally from mid-June through the late summer months.
Operating Hours:
- Mid-June to End of June: Fridays from 14:00 to 18:00; Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays from 10:00 to 18:00.
- July and August: Daily from 10:00 to 18:00.
- Note: Operations are weather-dependent. The coaster pauses in heavy rain or storm conditions for safety reasons.
Ticket Prices:
- Single Ride: Adults €4.90, Children €3.90
- 5-Ride Pass: Adults €22, Children €17
- 10-Ride Pass: Adults €39, Children €29
• Children aged 7 to 15: Qualify for the child fare and are permitted to ride independently.
• Children aged 3 to 6: Can ride free of charge, but must ride in tandem accompanied by a paying adult (aged 16+).
• Children under age 3: Are not permitted to ride for safety reasons.
How to Get There by Public Transportation
Reaching Hohe Wand Wiese from central Vienna using the city’s superb public transit network is straightforward and takes around 35 to 40 minutes:
- Take subway line U4 (Green Line) to its western terminus station, Hütteldorf.
- From the Hütteldorf bus terminal, board Bus 450 heading toward Mauerbach.
- Ride for approximately 15 minutes and alight directly at the Hohe Wand Wiese bus stop.
- From the stop, it is a flat 2-minute walk to the ticket counter and lift base.
