The city of Vienna has a reputation for being a sleepy, old city, but despite all that, the bar and pub scene in the city is not bad at all. Throughout the city, you can find places of the highest quality, with a great atmosphere and a selection that is not inferior to other popular cities across Europe. The bar scene in Vienna is as diverse as the city itself.

Whether you’re looking for luxury bars that combine the classic Viennese atmosphere, small and intimate bars with a light and friendly vibe, or underground bars – Vienna has it all.

In this article, we have compiled the best bars in Vienna that we, as Israelis living in Vienna, have come to know over the years. In total, there are 16 beloved bars on this list. The bars we’ve mentioned are mainly in the city center, but not only; there are excellent places a little outside the center, so if you’re up for an adventure to less touristy areas, you can find relevant recommendations here.
