The Mariahilf Church (Kirche Mariahilf) serves as the parish church for the community of St. Michael the Archangel. The church was originally built between 1686 and 1689 and was redesigned at the beginning of the 18th century in the Baroque style.
The church has six beautifully decorated chapels and an impressively beautiful altar. Johann Hencke built the church’s organ in the mid-18th century.
One of the church’s most impressive features is the pulpit, designed and built in 1720 by the Italian architect Antonio Beduzzi. Carved from wood, it features sculptures and decorative elements. Its finish gives it the appearance of gleaming marble, and its colors are brown and gold.
The church remains active today, with regular prayers held there. On weekends, a small farmers’ market takes place in the square next to the church. You can buy meat, vegetables, fruits, and various homemade foods and drinks there.
